Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 3,556 store hoggs, cast rams and feeding ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 21st February 2023.
A similar entry attracted a lot more distant buyers, as a result all classes sold at the high rates of the previous week and many more could have been sold to vendor’s advantage.

A tremendous entry of quality well bred stock was put forward to a large ring side of both well-travelled and local purchasers. Purchasers were seeking big strong ewes in good order carrying large crops of lambs. The sale was led at £225 for a pen of pure Texel ewes from Messrs Gray, Unthank, who also sold other pure ewes at £215, Texel x ewes at £195 and Scotch Mule ewes to £168. This run of 244 sheep sold to average £161.81.
