Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 2,230 store hoggs, feeding ewes and cast rams at Longtown on Tuesday 18th April 2023. Another large entry of hoggs, trade again extreme with last weeks record prices even dearer.

Ewes and lambs sold to a strong ring side, with new faces around, seeing all classes realising their true value and more. Sale was led again by Billy Bell, Kinninghall with a Dutch Spotted x gimmer with a single tup lamb at foot, selling to £120 a life, closely followed by a pen of Suffolk x gimmers at £110. Matthew Watson, Four o Boot sold Mule shearlings to £98, with others at £86 and £82. More are required for next weeks sale.
A run of 249 in lamb Shetland x Cheviot ewes from N. Robertson, Kilfinnan met animated demand, selling well past all pre-sale expectations, to a top of £102(x2) and £100. Averaging £97.76.
