Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts held their weekly sale of ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot at Longtown on Tuesday 13th June 2023.

A tidy entry of ewes with lambs at foot forward for the penultimate sale of the season. Topping the ewes and lambs was a decent Charollais ewe with a single lamb at foot realising £108 per life consigned by M/s Baxter, Moss Side, who also sold strong mule ewes to £97 per life.

Another fine entry of hoggs with lambs at foot for the time of year selling to an increased ring of purchasers ensuring all classes sold beyond expectations. Topping the sale was an outstanding pen of Suffolk cross hoggs with single Beltex lambs at foot, realising £129 per life consigned by M/s T Muirhead, Orchilmore, Perthshire. Texel hoggs with Beltex singles sold to £120 per life consigned by M/s Gibson, Thornton towers, Hexham.

Next week 20th June 2023 is to be the Final Sale of the season for ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot entries are welcome and early entries are appreciated.
