Longtown Store Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 2,780 store lambs at their opening sale at Longtown on Tuesday 18th July 2023.

Busy day at Longtown Mart for the opening store lamb sale of the season

A large show attracted a big ring side of buyers from Yorkshire down to Hereford. All classes proved good to sell all day. Top end store lambs better on the year, by £4 a head, with smaller lambs a similar trade on the year.

Top price of the day was £127 for Beltex from Merkland, Thornhill (Hambleton), others to £125 Intake, £120 East Mains; Texels to £125 The Laws, others to £117 Woodside & Aimshaugh, £116 Pallet Hill & The Laws, £115 Castlehill; Suffolks to £115 & £107 Castlehill, £102 Stockholm; Charollais to £100 Monk Farm; Dutch Texel to £122 & £109 Monk Farm; Cheviot to £91 Sharplaw, £87 Northway, £85 Hawthornbank; Dorsets to £91 Whinneybrow; Easycare to £80 Intake; Kerry Hills to £76 East Mains; Jacobs to £62 Dun-mor.
