Texels

Texel rams sold to a buoyant trade throughout topping at £3,500 for a ram lamb consigned by M/s Bell, Kirkton. Judging of the pre sale show was left in the capable hands of Mr James Latimer, Causey View, who took his time giving each consigner his full attention. After some deliberation he chose his overall champion in the first prized Texel shearling ram consigned by Richard & Chris Thornton, Cornhills which went under the hammer later in the day to realise £2,100. Likewise the Suffolk trade customers look for power and carcasses proving top end of shearling selling with great ease.

Cross bred and other Continental rams

Cross bred and other continental rams proved to be a select trade, powerful rams carrying plenty of presence were the pick of the day with numerous reaching over £1,000 per head.  Smaller end of rams harder to place with purchasers looking for power and weight.

The pre sale show was under the command of Mr Sam Wilson, Warkshaugh, Hexham who had a very difficult job infront of him. After much deliberation Sam found his stand out champion in a very scopey Texel cross Beltex shearling ram consigned by M/s Millar, Crookholm which later went under the hammer to realise the top price of the day at £1,600
