Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C & D Auction Marts held their weekly sale of 3,137 Store Hoggs at Longtown on Tuesday 27th January 2026.

Short term hoggs very much the same trade on the week. Longer keep lambs dearer on the week with a few new faces around the ringside. Store numbers needed each week as purchasers travel from up and down the country looking to fill wagons.

Topping the day was a Texel tup hogg realising £170 from Ridley Browell, Quarry House.

Store Cattle

A small gathering of mainly 6–8-month-old hill bred cattle sold to a very competitive ring of potential customers ensuring all classes were well bid for. Topping at £1,200 for a pen of four, 6-month-old, hill bred steers consigned by M/s Findlay, Whitchester Farm, Tarset.
