Longtown Hillbred Suckler Calves Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their annual catalogue sale of 470 Spring born suckler calves at Longtown on Saturday 22nd October 2016. 

A full ringside of buyers all wanting cattle, ensured trade was better than expected following reports from other centres. The show was kindly sponsored by Dodd & Co., Accountants, with judging ably carried out by Mr Richard Dixon, Lesson Hall. He awarded the Championship and The Jacob Thomlinson Challenge Trophy; presented by Miss Hazel Thomlinson, to a six month old Charolais bullock from Greystoke Castle Farms, which realised £1,160, bought by Smith Bros, The View. Reserve went to a Limousin bullock shown by Messrs DH & JM Murray, The Throp, which made £1,000 and purchased by the judge.
