Longtown Primestock Sale Report
The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart plc had forward 22 prime cattle, 1 young bulls, 14 over thirty month cattle, 4,917 prime lambs and 6,250 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 28th August 2014.
Prime cattle took a big lift with trade the dearest for sometime with ten bidders in attendance all left short of requirements many more needed for the every growing demand. Top price to 224.5p twice for Limousin bullocks from D J Garthwaite & Son, Wyseby Hill Cottage and A & W J Taylor & Son, Dashwellgreen. Limousin heifers sold to 223.5p from W & W Faulder, Houghton House.
